I don’t really know how to describe Disturbing Simpsons with any other words than the adjective included in the title. Maybe it has something to do with a similarity in style to the early shorts on the Tracy Ullman show or perhaps I just enjoy disturbing things, but I really like Disturbing Simpsons a lot.
The Plain Dealer (Watterson’s hometown paper) has the first interview with Watterson in 15 years!. It’s a satisfying interview that isn’t marred by its brevity.
I realize that not many people here care so much about making comics, but I’ve decided to post this short interview with Doug TenNapel (no worries, I didn’t know about him before I saw the vid either) because it’s pretty inspiring. Interest in comics aside, it’s a pretty funny video, but more importantly, I really liked his points about working loosely and committing energy to his work.
Sure you’ve heard, but Ikea changed their font from a customized Futura to a stock Verdana. People are up in arms.
I’ve got two new paintings this week. The first was done earlier in the week and is entitle “The Visitor II,” which is a spiritual sequel to none other than The Visitor. The second, which I finished inking this morning is “The Poor Trait Artist.”
I also hammered out a short three-page comic that just needs a title and closing box, but it’ll probably stay hidden even after that’s added for some as-of-yet undisclosed project.
Enjoy.
Apologies for the delay in getting this post out, but I just got the pictures from last weekend’s show. I had my second art show last weekend (March 20th & 21st) and was fortunate enough to have not only a great gallery space but also the help of my good friends Push the Apples. The show was two days only and we emptied out the gallery that Sunday, but only after having a fantastic opening / closing show. Push the Apples were generous enough to entertain the crowd with their music throughout the weekend. Overall the event was quite successful and we had a packed house both evenings with a nice stream of people throughout the day. Thanks to everyone that showed up and helped out!
