Euterpe’s Bile

Music & Lyrics by Kirk & Greenberg
All instruments and programming by Kirk & Greenberg
Mixed and “produced” by same

We’d also be very (very) thankful for constructive criticism, both kind and unkind (which, since we requested it, would also be kind). Numerous advancements in recording technique have been made since the last song, but this one is far less conventional, and is our first foray into vocals (we intend to rerecord certain vox at some point). Admittedly, it is also far more extreme than the last one–meaning some may be on unfamiliar territory here–but still, any input you can give would be great. Thanks, enjoy, etc.

Also, thanks to Josh for recommending Tracktion, which is our new mixing program (still Sound Forge for recording/manipulation, though).

Oh, Euterpe.

Lordi

Monday, April 24th, 2006

Well, since we’re all posting videos now:

A NYTimes article discusses Finland’s queasiness as band Lordi is set to represent them in the show Eurovision. Apparently this is one of the most popular shows in the world, in which bands from each Euro-country compete to see who plays the best single. People then vote from all over the continent on the winner. Lordi is causing problems because of their very extreme image, as is evident both in the picture accompanying the article, as well as their video for Would You Love a Monsterman?. The song, like most of their music, is not particularly evil (think updated ’80s balladss) and is ridiculously surreally catchy, to the point where even a musical vagina like Losure might like it. Apparently this is not the first time problems have come about because of image: in 1998 a transexual from Israel won the competition only to be derided by her embarrassed fellow countrymen. As much as the looks and music are very over-the-top, I have to give credit to anyone who’s that dedicated to their image. Plus the video’s actually pretty good, albeit cheesy; Hecate Enthroned (see two posts down) could learn a thing or two about when scary should be funny.
