OmgWoah it’s a sweet Flash implementation of 2D physics. Don’t forget to click and drag everything (and push left and right arrow to get to the other examples).

Saturday, December 29th, 2007Film about Calvin and Hobbes?
Tuesday, December 25th, 2007
Sorry to disappoint everyone who thought I was talking about the upcoming film about theologians and philosophers but there is some news floating around about a documentary of Calvin and Hobbes and it’s creator, the ever-elusive Bill Waterson. Sounds like a fantastic idea to me.

lost gloves
Saturday, December 22nd, 2007From the mind that brought you one hundred cups of coffee comes lost gloves, the photolog of the sad and lonely lost gloves found around Berlin.
Science Budget
Thursday, December 20th, 2007Congress just passed the FY2008 budget. The budget includes devastating budget cuts to the DOE office of science, which funds many physicists (including me and everyone I work with). I wrote an email to the Illinois Senators, and I got a reply from Barack Obama! See if Obama passes a turning test in my full writeup.
Street Fighter 4
Tuesday, December 18th, 2007At some point I gave my address to a software company or some company affiliated with video games, because for the last view months I’ve been receiving gaming based magazines that I never signed up for and never pay for. Mostly I scan through them to see some reviews, get a quick pro/con rundown of new games, and then toss them. But the one I received today contained a fairly lengthy article about Street Fighter 4, which I immediately flipped to and read. I must say, if the development team sticks to their current game plan, this should be awesome. They are trying to keep it completely old school with a newer edge. They want to keep the 2D fighting style but have the characters and environments 3D, and from the screenshots in the article, it’s looking good. And besides the new look and a couple new characters, it’s going to be SF2 all over again, which is the way SF should be. They also added in a Saves system, which wasn’t explained horribly in depth, but sounds like a system for dodge/block/counter/recover. They also plan on using the 3D animation to allow the characters to show emotion, so they’ll look more raggad as the fight wears on, look in pain when they get hit, and look angry when trhowing out massive combos. All in all, I think it should be pretty solid. No release date yet, but they’re hoping late 2008 to coincide with SF’s 20th anniversary.
Batman Returns… again
Tuesday, December 18th, 2007The sequel to Batman Begins, The dark Knight, comes out this spring/summer. It features Christian Bale and Michael Cane again, but this time they’re backed by Heath Ledger as the Joker. In the new full length trailer you get a good feel for the direction Ledger took the new Joker. It looks like he’ll do a pretty good job, though I think the choice of makeup is a little over dramatic. At some points in the little bit of his dialog you hear, he actually sounds like Jack Nicholson. I’m interested in seeing exactly where they will take the plot, since I get a feeling from the trailer that Bruce Wayne fights some inner demons throughout the movie, which I fear could turn it into Spiderman with a cape.
How to blog
Monday, December 17th, 2007I found a Wired article with advice on how to blog from this guy:

The article itself isn’t that great. But I was curious what that guy might have to say about blogging.
More blog
Sunday, December 16th, 2007I just moved out to Chicago at the start of the month (I’ll add a post later about the awful experience of driving out here in an ice storm.) I’ll be out here until I finish my degree. I’ve started another blog with my roommates from Columbus: 356w.wordpress.com.
I can hear your comments now: “Another blog? But you barely post here!”. To work around this, I plan duplicate my meager posts on both blogs. Also, I plan to steal content from both blogs and post it as my own…. mwwahahaha! Actually, the amount of cross linking (with proper attribution) between blogs should increase my post rate.
(I started the new blog with classic content: choo choo rocket)
totally sweet

Mediocre Comic: “Listening to the new Wu-Tang”
Saturday, December 15th, 2007
Here’s a grade-B mediocre comic that’s semi-autobiographical. As I was uploading the comic I realized it might be my first comic effort since “Mr Scraps,” my 24-hour comic of October. It’s was a little to sweet for me so I threw in some cameos of testicles and boobs. Try to enjoy…
