There’s going to be a new Robocop movie. My parents wouldn’t let me see the original Robocop’s. Something about them being to violent (apparently they were rated X for gore when they first came out). Even though the first was forgotten, the new version looks interesting because of the new director. Who is the new director? If you guessed Darren Aronofsky, you’re much more in touch than me. I’m optimistic about Robocop because it won’t be hard to make a better film than The Fountain.

Robocop
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008Medium Large
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008I found a great webcomic: Medium Large. Solid art, good humor, lots of pop culture references. Not as funny as Marmaduke, but close. (Yes, that was sarcasm).
Politico
Tuesday, July 29th, 2008I’m cross-posting this from the 356w blog partly because it’s awesome, and partly because a friend of mine is running for State Representative. Though the only democrat running in a Massachusetts precinct, it is in fact one of the few Republican strongholds in the state (about 80% Roman Catholic I think), his opponent is wealthy and extremely well connected (if little else), and the age thing (23).
Though it should be an uphill battle, I’m pretty impressed by the fact he’s been going door-to-door full time talking to people, and will continue to do so until the November elections. Also the other guy is essentially a neocon/satan worshipper. I’m actually trying to figure out what I can do myself, if anything, as I vaguely suspect complaining on the internet doesn’t do much. I suspect a lot of people are in the same place after this whole Bush fiasco, as a local paper, while focusing on m’amigo, points out that many people all over the country have been political a little younger of late.
For Me?
Tuesday, July 29th, 2008Just for kicks, you can buy swimsuits and underwear with butt padding here. I would also introduce you to the following marvelous sentence: “Kenneth Christman was the dynamic and visionary founder of Butt For You.” Splendid. Sadly, he was not quite visionary enough to pad the front. That’s where I make my millions.
Users
Tuesday, July 29th, 2008Not usually the huge Microsoft fan, but allowing users to create new games for the xBox (and sharing potential profit) is very extremely cool. Here.
Gamez
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008Brief news article about two of the best games I’ve ever played, X-Com and Bioshock. Long story short, Bioshock 2 is in the making and the X-Com franchise may also be getting an addition via the people who made Bioshock. The date on the article is May, but I hadn’t heard this, so hey, I’m posting.
Sunday Art Mediocrity
Sunday, July 20th, 2008Well, here’s painting #3, entitled “helping hands” (acrylic, collage, baby blood. 30x43cm). I’m still at the very beginning of trying to figure out what I can do with acrylics. I’ve gotten so much good advice and I’m a bit ashamed to show what I’ve been doing with that good advice, but I’ve posted the picture nevertheless. I also need to work on a better system for photographing / scanning the paintings.
Contra
Saturday, July 19th, 2008If I watched the news I’m sure I would know that this is all over it, but I don’t so I will claim ignorance. Long story short there’s an attempt to define contraception as abortion.
Purple and Brown
Saturday, July 19th, 2008I don’t know why it took me so long to see this but “Purple and Brown” is just perfect. Just watch.
Dr. Horrible
Thursday, July 17th, 2008Joss Whedon is back at it with a lovely little musical mini-series, Dr. Horrible. It is quite funny, and superbly awesome. First and second acts are up, third goes up on Saturday, and they disappear into the realm of purchase only Sunday night. Go check it out, if for no other reason than for the surprise of who plays Captain Hammer.
