Wednesday, June 24th, 2009This is a damn cool picture of a Russian volcano taken from the International Space Station. Apparently it erupted so hard that it actually pushed it’s way up through the atmosphere.
The Craziest Mofo: Nixon
Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009In case you haven’t heard, Nixon’s opinions on abortion, recorded on tape, are being released. They contain gems such as this:
“There are times when an abortion is necessary. I know that. When you have a black and a white,” he told an aide, before adding, “Or a rape.”
Black Swan
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009News on Aaronofsky’s probable next movie. Apparently Robocop has been put to the side for now, and he’s likely to adapt “The Black Swan”, a novel of which I remember hearing something but do not know what.
Of Trivia and Trebuchets
Saturday, June 13th, 2009This is a pretty cool video filled with a whole bunch of interesting trivia, mostly about the improvements in technology. Some of it is pretty mind blowing.
And if you go here you can hurl rocks to destroy castles in a fun flash game. Kind of wish they had more interesting things to toss, but I’m sure it will happen eventually, as is the nature of the interwebs.
Monstar
Friday, June 12th, 2009Fellow in NC was arrested for creating a construction barrel monster (or two). No word on fine/jail/whatever but apparently barrels are $20 each, so I’d consider the awesome creations well worth it.

Guillermo del Toro Interview
Tuesday, June 9th, 2009
Wired is running an interesting interview with Guillermo del Toro. Del Toro gives a short summary about the future of film but doesn’t really elaborate other than to suggest that the film industry, as well as traditional forms of story telling, are going through a sea change.
The article also contains a list of del Toro’s rumored / confirmed projects and discusses the probability that they’ll be made. The list is pretty interesting, though let’s just say that there’s a lot of rumored stop motion work there.
Also, don’t miss the second page for an interior of his house.
