Did he choke on his own head?
No, as I recall he would continue to attempt to peck food off the ground but it didn’t work since he had neither beak nor head to do it with. So they would feed him by sticking an eyedropper of water/small pieces of food into his exposed esophagus. I believe he choked to death on a bean administered in this manner.
