Billy West Does Futurama Voices

July 16th, 2010

I recommend this Fresh Air Interview with Billy West, who does an alarming number of the voices in Futurama.

Interview

It is amazing how his voices changes during the interview.

Pekar

Bummer, Harvey Pekar died.

Metal

July 8th, 2010

I can honestly think of no better use for the music of Dimmu Borgir than as the soundtrack to this video.

And of course, some day many of us will be metal dads (except Losure who will be a wuss-dad). Here we have a role model even the greatest of us can aspire to.

Portal 2 Vids

July 5th, 2010

Speaking of steam, if you go to the videos section, there are a ton of previews of Portal 2 involving many new mechanics and the return of GLaDOS.

Almost related to diablo II being 10 years old – there’s a huge sale over at the STEAM store right now. I think it may be today only. Tons of games are like 70% off. Halflife 2 is $4. Lots of much more recent games for like $10. Worth a look perhaps.

Diablo II is 10 Years Old!

June 29th, 2010

Joystiq was kind enough to remind everyone that Diablo II came out on June 29, 2000. They also point out that the most recent patch came out in March. No that’s some longevity, eh?

I’d say the announcement made me feel old, but my admiration for Blizzard creating such a great (and still horribly addicting) game far outweighs any selfish feelings I might have.

What can I say…10 more years?

TMHT?

June 25th, 2010

I am recently told that in Britain, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because they felt like “ninja” was too dark. That is all.

The Future is Thursday!

June 22nd, 2010

Futurama starts up again on thursday… woo hoo! I totally forgot about it. Tons of stuff about it on this comedy central page.

Personally, I would not be surprised at a Family Guy-style internet backlash, but so long as I can spend time watching Bender steal things again I’ll be pretty happy anyway.

Edit: Plus this rather tantalizing interview with David X Cohen at entertainment weekly.

Disturbing Simpsons

June 20th, 2010

I don’t really know how to describe Disturbing Simpsons with any other words than the adjective included in the title. Maybe it has something to do with a similarity in style to the early shorts on the Tracy Ullman show or perhaps I just enjoy disturbing things, but I really like Disturbing Simpsons a lot.

Apparently they can teleport information now? That is some seriously sick goodness.

Also sick goodness: tumbleweed probes! I really like the idea of planetary probes that rely on the planet’s (here: Mars’s) wind to move all over the place. Millenia-old sail technology for the win.

Edit: I forgot about how damn cool four-propeller “quadrotor” helicopters could be. Here’s a working minature model doing flips, flying at odd angles and such.
